Tigh na Mara Guest House is a charming traditional stone cottage and as its Gaelic name suggests it’s superbly located by the sea with extensive views of Castlebay harbour. It’s central location is a perfect walking distance to shops, restaurants and local transport.
Located in the main village Castlebay you will find Kisimul Castle, Café Kisimul, Hebridean Toffee Company, Isle of Barra Gin, Castlebay Hotel & Bar, Craigard Hotel, Castlebay Hall, Heritage Centre and Bùth Bharraigh all within walking distance to Tigh Na Mara. There are also daily boat trips to Mingulay departing from the Castlebay slipway a minute’s walk from the guesthouse.
The house is a Castlebay landmarks, originally built in the early 1900s. Established as a guest house in 1959 by Linda’s Granny, then refurbished in 1990 and opened in 1991 by Linda & Archie.
